About West Knoxville
West Knoxville is the major growth area of the City of Knoxville. Some of the more desired communities west of downtown are Cedar Bluff, Hardin Valley, West Hills, Karns, Bearden, North Shore/Choto, and Concord/Bluegrass. Westmoreland and Sequoyah Hills are just two of the more upscale areas in which to live.
The West Town Mall is in West Hills, which is generally considered to be the area from the western slope of Bearden Hill east to Cedar Bluff. This indoor shopping mall has more of the traditional mall feel and is anchored by some of the major department stores. Further west is the new shopping mecca of Turkey Creek, which lies west of I-140 and is home to virtually every type of store you can imagine, is in this fabulous mile long stretch of shopping heaven.
Kingston Pike carries the traveler from the city center of Knoxville past West Hills and out to Farragut. There are numerous choices of recreation areas that the outdoor enthusiast will enjoy, including public parks, boating, fishing as well as hiking and biking. The Tennessee River runs along the southern edge of West Knoxville, providing many opportunities for river front property.
